Attenborough v Sandiacre Town

6.30pm  11 April 2017

Nottinghamshire Senior League, Premier Division
Attenborough 5 Sandiacre Town 1 (att 42)

The home side went into this game in need of points in their fight to avoid the drop, but they got them with ease as they overwhelmed Sandiacre.

Attenborough were sharpest from the start, and although they survived a couple of early scares it wasn't long before they went in front, and from there they never looked back.

They led 3-0 by half time, then added a fourth from the penalty spot early in the second period. Goal number five came after around an hour, after which they eased off.

Sandiacre's side looked young, or perhaps it's just me getting older. They got some reward for keeping going with a late goal that rounded off the evening's entertainment.

Attenborough looks a rather upmarket suburb of Nottingham. The football club shares the 'village green' ground with Attenborough Cricket Club.

From the modern pavilion, the roped off football pitch is on the far side of the cricket square, with a pair of dugouts erected on the far side.

It's not the best equipped football venue for spectators, although there's a few benches around the ground for those who prefer to sit, but it's a well-maintained a pleasant place to watch a game.
