Eccleston and Heskin v Broughton Amateurs

6.30pm  20 April 2016

Mid Lancashire League, Premier Division
Eccleston and Heskin 7 Broughton Amateurs 2 (att 23)

Home side Eccleston and Heskin were impressive as they romped to an easy win to keep the pressure on league leaders Southport and Ainsdale Amateurs.

A flurry of late goals gave the final score a lopsided appearance, but it was a deserved reward for a team who were on top from the start.

Eccleston and Heskin led 2-0 by half time, although they had opportunities to score more. Broughton Amateurs had their moments, in particular two second half goals, but it was mostly one-way traffic, particularly near the end as the home side boosted their goal difference.

Eccleston and Heskin are neighbouring villages not far from Chorley. Eccleston is the bigger of the two, and home to the Jubilee Playing Fields where the club is based. Essentially it's a park pitch, but part of both touchlines were roped off to keep spectators at bay. On a warm and sunny evening it was an enjoyable 90 minutes.
