Cassidys v Brushes Rangers Spartak

10.15am  14 November 2015

Manchester Saturday Morning League, Division One
Cassidys 1 Brushes Rangers Spartak 6 (att 7)

Thankfully the forecast heavy rain didn't begin falling until after this morning league match on a grass pitch at the Manchester Health Academy in Wythenshawe, south Manchester.

It was one of two Manchester Saturday Morning games at the ground, with Baguley Athletic hosting Aldwyn Town in a league cup tie on the pitch nearest the main road. The Cassidys game was on a pitch to the far left of the large sports ground, bordered by the back gardens of suburban houses.

Brushes have become well established in the league in the last few years, and have made a strong start to this season. Although the scoreline was harsh on Cassidys, there was no doubt Brushes were much the better side and deserved their win.

The visitors went ahead early, and played some good football before doubling their lead before half time.

Cassidys should have scored from a penalty but the spot kick hit the bar. They again hit the crossbar in the second half, and when they did reduce the arrears they threatened to equalise.

However, Brushes Rangers Spartak weathered the storm, extended their lead, and late goals gave them a slightly flattering scoreline.
