Wakefield City 3 DRAM Community 5 (att 7)
Sometimes the first few minutes of a game can tell you all you need to know about what the outcome will be. On other occasions, like today, they can mislead you entirely.
Wakefield had already won the league, while Huddersfield-based DRAM were destined to finish just clear of relegation whatever the result. So it was hardly a great surprise when Wakefield's first attack resulted in a penalty, duly converted to give them a first minute lead.
In the second minute the home side went 2-0 ahead, then they had to wait until the fourth minute before making it 3-0. It seemed just a question of how many goals they fancied against a DRAM side who mustered barely a tackle.
A couple more missed chances came and went for Wakefield, before DRAM got a toe-hold in the game and began putting some pressure on what proved to be a surprisingly fragile defence.
DRAM's first goal back looked likely to do little more than temporarily halt Wakefield, but it proved a turning point, and by half time, thanks to some calamitous home defending, it was 3-3.
The visitors had their tails up, and the game's best goal put them 4-3 ahead soon into the second half. A fifth goal sealed what had looked an impossibly unlikely win, albeit one that that surely wouldn't have happened had more been at stake.
To be fair to Wakefield they pushed hard to get back into the game in the second half, and were denied by a very good performance by DRAM's goalkeeper.
Wakefield City are based at the West Yorkshire Sports and Social Club in the Wakefield suburb of Sandal. It's a large sports ground, that was also staging a cricket match. City's pitch is railed off on three sides, with a pair of dugouts on one side. There are two other football pitches in the complex, including one that's railed off on both touchlines.
