Hythe and Dibden v United Services Portsmouth

7.45pm  10 February 2015

Wessex League, Division One
Hythe and Dibden 1 United Services Portsmouth 4 (att 39)

It's been a testing time for Hythe and Dibden since moving into their new Clayfields ground, with weather problems causing postponements and giving the club a mighty fixture backlog to get through.

They began playing catch up with a midweek fixture against United Services Portsmouth, but any hopes they had of gaining points and climbing the table were thwarted by the visitors' clinical finishing.

US Portsmouth were a goal up by half time, a penalty five minutes before the break, but in the second half they were lethal in front of goal and took control of the game, running out deserved winners.

The home club's new ground is very much a work in progress. The pitch, which shows signs of the problems which caused recent postponements, is fully enclosed and a paved walkway around the perimeter. A concrete base has been laid for the stand, and the club has taken up residence with a cosy clubhouse and tea bar in a building behind the goal.
