HB Tórshavn v Partizan Belgrade

7pm  22 July 2014

UEFA Champions League 2nd qualifying round, 2nd leg
HB Tórshavn 1 Partizan Belgrade 3 (1-6 on aggregate) (att 1,151)

Enjoyable game played in the in the main stadium in Tórshavn, the Tórsvollur, which is generally reserved for Eurpoean ties and internationals, and is immediately adjacent to the smaller ground shared by HB, or Havnar Bóltfelag to give them their official title, and B36.

Only one side was open tonight, with building work seemingly in progress on the opposite side and at one, or maybe even both, ends.

With Partizan defending a solid 3-0 lead from the first leg the tie was effectively over even before this game, which might have accounted for the subdued atmosphere.

The home side did well though, and surprisingly scored the first half's only goal, a header following a good cross after 35 minutes. Any hopes they had of pulling off a shock ended five minutes into the second half, when poor defending allowed Partizan to equalise.

The visitors scored twice more, as well as hitting a post and forcing the HB keeper to make some good saves, but the Faroese champions had a few half chances.

Didn't spot much in the way of Partizan support, and their goals were greeted by almost silence. An HB drummer tried to raise some vocal support for the home side, but it was a mostly quiet evening.
