The Broons v Mosstodloch

2pm  4 May 2014

Moray Welfare League, Premier Division
The Broons 0 Mosstodloch 2 (att 21)

Their name might be linked with a comic strip, but The Broons have made quite an impact since joining Moray Welfare football, establishing themselves in the top division.

This season might be a different matter though, as this was their third defeat in their three opening league games (the Moray Welfare FA has a summer season), and Mosstodloch didn't have to play too well to beat them.

The visitors scored a goal in each half, and while The Broons had the better of possession they were hopeless when they got near the Mosstodloch goal. They came close just once, when the Mosstodloch keeper misjudged a weak shot which hit both posts without crossing the line.

The last time I saw The Broons play at home they used a 3G pitch at a school in Aberlour. That ground isn't available to them this year, so they've moved to Fife Park in Fife Keith. This was once home to junior side Islavale, who I assume used a pitch in front of the changing rooms, as it has a row of seats under an overhanging roof.

The Broons use a pitch that's away to the right from the changing rooms, and has grass that could do with being cut, as well as something you don't see very often these days ... square goal posts.
