Coney Hall v AFC Sevenoaks

11.45am  5 May 2014

Kent County League, Division One West
Coney Hall 3 AFC Sevenoaks 1 (att 29)

It's always nice to tick off a new ground, especially a decent venue with a fully-enclosed pitch, dugouts and a small covered standing area, presumably legacies of a time, not long ago, when Coney Hall competed at a higher level.

But as entertainment this game was sadly lacking. I assume the late kick was due to the late arrival of several away team players, they kicked off with just 10 men, and by the time the 11th arrived, inside 10 minutes, they were already 2-0 down.

Coney Hall had nothing to play for, and having established an early lead they eased off against the division's bottom club. AFC Sevenoaks surprisingly scored the game's next goal, but Coney Hall added a third before half time.

In the second half little of note happened at all. The AFC Sevenoaks keeper was injured with 15 minutes to go, but carried on despite being barely mobile. He eventually gave up, and was replaced by an outfield player, with a couple of minutes to go, but it says a lot about the game that Coney Hall failed to trouble a keeper who could hardly move.
