Cardigan Town v New Quay

1.15pm  8 March 2014

Ceredigion League, Division One
Cardigan Town 6 New Quay 0 (att 224)

The wind which affected the morning's game at Aberporth seemed even stronger at Cardigan Town's attractive King George V Playing Fields home.

But the hosts made light of the conditions as they hammered a disappointing New Quay, who looked a shadow of the side I saw last year on their way to their third consecutive Ceredigion League title.

Cardigan played some very impressive football, scoring twice in the first half and adding four more after the break.

The ground reminded me of a cross between those of Lampeter Town, which also has a floodlit rugby pitch next to a lesser-equipped football pitch, and former ground of Aberaeron, which is similarly surrounded by attractive buildings, in this case houses.

The pitch itself was roped off for today's occasion, and the club was well organised to cater for the larger than normal gathering of spectators, also issuing a very impressive programme.
