Singh Sabha Slough v British Airways

10.30am  2 November 2013

Middlesex County League, Premier Division
Singh Sabha Slough 2 British Airways 3 (att 83)

This was the latest in the series of occasional, but welcome, morning kick-offs in the Middlesex League, and gave dozens of groundhoppers, who formed the overwhelming majority of the crowd, a chance to visit Singh Sabha's new ground.

Like many teams in the league, Singh Sabha Slough have led a nomadic existence in recent years, but now appeared settled in their own sports centre. Facilities are still a bit basic, as you'd expect, with the main pitch railed off on one side and roped off on the far side and at both ends.

But the large venue also has a decent car park and a modern pavilion which also houses changing rooms. Programmes were plentiful and refreshments were available, although that might not be the case for a normal league game with an afternoon kick off.

On the pitch it as a decent game. I used to watch Middlesex League games when I lived in the county over 20 years ago, and the standard, on and off the pitch, has improved considerably since then.

British Airways took an early lead against the run of play. Singh Sabha equalised before half time, but the visitors came out on top as the teams traded goals in the second half. British Airways looked the better side, but Singh Sabha were unfortunate not to get a point.
