Bartestree v Ettingshall Park Farm

3pm  4 August 2012
West Midlands Regional League, Division Two
Bartestree 2 Ettingshall Park Farm 0 (att 38)

The home side's first game at this level, following elevation from the Herefordshire League, proved to be a routine win, thanks to a goal in each half.

The result wasn't a huge surprise, I'd say the Herefordshire League's top division is probably a higher standard than the West Midlands Regional League's lowest tier, but in a game of few clear chances Ettingshall were perhaps unfortunate not to get something out of the game.

Bartestree FC were only formed 20 years ago, and have made great strides on and off the pitch since then. The pitch, at Bartestree Playing Fields, looked immaculate, as it might be for the season's opening game. Both touchlines are railed off, while the ends are enclosed by wooden fencing.

The venue is truly the small village's sporting hub, as it also houses the local cricket team, who were at home this afternoon on the other side of the car park. A new pavilion serves both sports, but is adjacent to the cricket ground rather than the football.
