Park Brow v Collegiate OB reserves

8 May 2012
Liverpool County Premier League, Division Two
Park Brow 4 Collegiate Old Boys reserves 0 (att 14)

Easy win for the home side, who as a result keep up their challenge for promotion in their first season in the league.

Park Brow played some good football, and scored some decent goals, while the visitors, although always second best, had their moments as well. It was 3-0 at half time, and although the second half was a quieter affair it remained an entertaining game.

Keeping track of venues in the Liverpool County Premier League isn't easy, especially in the lower divisions. I thought Park Brow played in Fazakerley, and it was only when I checked this game I discovered they now play off Simonswood Lane in Kirkby. Park Brow School is nearby, so perhaps this is closer to the club's roots.

As venues go it's about as basic as you can get. A large expanse of grass with several pitches marked out on it, and a long walk from the basic-looking changing rooms. The players even have to carry out their own goalposts.

The controversial Sonae wood chip plant looms over the pitch, and at least provides a diverting backdrop, while Liverpool FC's Academy is across the road.

I think this visit recompleted the Liverpool County Premier League's three divisions for me, but chances one or two other clubs may have moved to new pitches during the season so it's hard to be sure.
